What's NewIIF offers new Certificate of Forecasting Practice. Telenor will be supporting ISF2008 in Nice, France by publishing a special issue of the Journal of Technology on ICT Forecasting. The theme of ISF 2008 is Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Forecasting. To support ISF, contributors are asked, if possible, both to present the paper at ISF by submitting the abstract via the ISF website and to submit an extended abstract for the journal issue. Pollyprize Award Winners Announced The International Institute of Forecasters has named Carl Klarner and Stan Buchanan, assistant professors of political science at Indiana State University, as co-winners of its 2006 "Pollyprize" competition for election forecasting. The Pollyprize competition is intended to advance the scientific approach to political forecasting through greater understanding of legislative election outcomes and of the policy or campaign factors that influence such outcomes. The winning papers "Forecasting the 2006 Elections for the U.S Senate" and "Forecasting the 2006 Elections for the U.S. House of Representatives" can be viewed at: http://www.apsanet.org/section_223.cfm The prize is sponsored by the IIF and promoted by Pollyvote, The Political Forecasting Special Interest Group, a resource for scholars and practitioners interested in forecasting elections and other political events. |
